Lighting design and Installation

We design lighting systems and cover the installation of lighting systems. Additionally we deal with emergency lighting systems which should be tested on an annual basis. These tests include discharge tests, to ensure that the fittings remain illuminated for their rated time and battery tests to ensure they are in good condition and have not exceeded their expected lifespan.

Portable Electrical Applicance Testing (PAT)

Increasingly the insurance industry is requiring that PAT Testing is carried out prior to the renewal of the insurance policy. This is because over 1000 work place accidents involving electric shock are reported to The Health & Safety Executive each year, many of which are fatal! Most of the reported accidents involve portable appliances

The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers and self employed persons to take reasonable practical steps to ensure no danger results from the use of any electrical appliances. This requires the introduction of a systematic and regular programmed schedule of maintenance, inspection and testing. The Safety at Work Act places such an obligation in the following conditions:

  • Where appliances are used by employees
  • Where the public may use appliances in establishments such as Hospitals, Schools, Hotels, Shops, etc.
  • Where appliances are supplied or hired.
  • Where appliances are repaired or serviced.

The level of inspection and testing required is dependant upon the risk of the appliance becoming faulty, which is dependant upon the type of appliance and the environment in which it is used. PAT Testing forms an important part of the Safety at Work Act (1974).

We can provide you with a quotation for the testing of your portable electrical appliances which includes:

  • Tesing to the British Standard of all your appliances
  • Provide lables to all equipment indicating the date they have been PAT tested
  • Supply of certification to include test results of all apliances tested
  • Re-testing of equipment at the appropriate interval so maintaining records of all test results
  • Contact you annually to arrange for re-testing, or set up a fixed price 3 or 5-year contract

We can if required check a customer's socket outlets, particularly their earthing integrity, whilst testing the appliances. Performing these two tasks concurrently is worthwhile and is very cost-effective.

Labeling

The HMC barcode, is unique within the UK, and is given to each appliance when tested. Where large numbers of labels are required, we can produce them to show the clients name and any details as required. 'Pass' labels are applied to all appliances attaining a 'pass' condition.

A PAT test will ensure that you meet the requirements of the Health & Saftey Standards, in addition to these other important factors: To satisfy your Insurance Company and more importantly to minimise the risk of fire and injury caused by faulty electrical appliances. All our Engineers are City & Guilds tested.

Wiring and Re-wiring

When was your electrical installation it last inspected and does it comply with current Health and Safety Regulations?

Every electrical installation deteriorates with use and age. It is important therefore, that the person responsible for the maintenance of the installation ensures that the safety of users is not put at risk, and that the installation continues to be in a safe and serviceable condition.

Why not let us test your existing electrical installation and give yourself peace of mind. If your property requires rewiring we can design and install your new installation to the current regulations. We provide and install all types of electrical and data wiring. We can work in harmony with your IT suppliers and installers to wire to and connect all your IT equipment.

A Fixed Wiring Inspection will provide you with a report on the condition of your existing installation. Our report will indicate any departures from BS 7671:2001, and make any recommendations that may be necessary to bring it up to the standards required by current legislation. We will provide a quotation for any repairs that may be necessary, but that report will be comprehensive enough for you to go to tender, should you require.
